We believe there are bats in the attic of our new home. My husband has heard bat calls while in the bathroom under the attic, and we have seen them fly up to the roof eaves. The previous owners had called someone to rid the attic of bats, but we don't think it was entirely effective. Alison R.

My husband and I just bought a beautiful old house, that has been unfortunately neglected in certain ways... One of those ways, we discovered tonight, is that we have a bat farm in our chimney... There are inches of droppings underneath our gas fireplace area, which used to be a wood-burning fireplace, there are also some dead bats, along with an orchestra of chirping live bats that we hear at night when we are in our living room.
